MEET Dr Stine, MD- Hartford’s only Integrative Psychiatrist

Have you been looking for a doctor who takes the time to listen to your symptoms and concerns and gets to know you personally and holistically before recommending treatment? Dr Stine has a rigorous background in Western Medicine (University of Chicago, New York Medical College, Board Certified Psychiatrist) as well as years of study and practice in Chinese Medicine. This balanced and holistic approach is widely different from standard psychiatric practice. Dr. Stine will ask many more questions and views mental health difficulties as stemming from many imbalances in the mind, body, and spirit and works with his patients to come up with a comprehensive plan to address these needs with minimal medication and maximum care. Dr. Stine has decades of experience working with clients of all ages – he works with children, adolescents, and adults.

We use the term “integrative” to describe a holistic approach to psychiatric care that draws upon conventional Western and complementary therapies. During the comprehensive evaluation that explores possible biological, lifestyle, psychological, and environmental contributions to symptoms, Dr. Stine works with clients to develop an integrated treatment plan drawing upon his specialties in psychotherapy, psychopharmacology, herbal medicines, and mindfulness-based approaches. In our view, “integrative psychiatry” also carries with it the core values of compassion, humility, receptivity, and curiosity.

Innumerable research studies highlight the ways in which psyche (mind) and soma (body) are connected neurologically, hormonally, immunologically, and otherwise. At Hopewell Health Solutions, we aim to help people develop greater awareness of the ways in which their minds and bodies relate to one another, thereby improving all aspects of their health.
