Michael is a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the state of Connecticut. He received his bachelor’s degree in nursing from Central Connecticut State University and his master’s degree in nursing from the University of Saint Joseph. Michael has worked as a psychiatric nurse in a variety of settings including inpatient psychiatric treatment and residential substance abuse and recovery. His philosophy of care is always holistic,  positive, and strength based and  focused on creating healthier systems for his patients. His training and expertise is not only medically- based, but he also incorporates CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialetical Behavioral Therapy), and Solution Focused therapy. His approach combines personalized medicine with listening  thoughtfully and deeply to the patient’s experience.

Michael is committed to providing the highest quality care through the development of a therapeutic and collaborative relationship with each of his clients. He provides  medication management for a wide range of psychiatric conditions such as depression, anxiety, ADD/ADHD, trauma,  personality, and OCD disorders with caution and care.  Michael will tailor an  individualized, holistic treatment  plan understanding your symptoms in the context of your life. Michael understands that making decisions around psychiatric medication is very multi-faceted and he takes his time to get to know his patients and listens to concerns and worries with compassion.  Michael’s approach to medication with children and adolescents always includes the parents into the treatment and recommendations in order to create a treatment plan that works for the whole family. He believes in open and regular communication around these very important concerns. He believes that the practical purpose of prescribing medication is to help reduce symptoms so that the  mentality can shift and important changes can happen in the client’s life.

Michael is a retired Army veteran with over 23 years of total service between active duty and the Army Reserve. He spent more than 13 years as an active-duty infantryman with service in the Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment. Michael deployed to Afghanistan in support of combat operations during the global war on terrorism.

Michael lives in Avon with his girlfriend and their dog, Kermit. In his free time, Michael enjoys mountain biking, working out, hiking, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.
