Rachel Marcus, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Connecticut, a Certified School Social Worker, and Faculty Advisor for the University of Connecticut School of Social Work. She is a insightful, engaging, and impactful therapist who has a keen ability to help clients reach their goals effectively and creatively. She received her B.A. in Psychology and MSW from the University of Connecticut and has worked in the last thirty years in a multitude of settings including public and private schools, hospitals, home care, and mental health counseling agencies. Her expertise in assessing and creating a focused, goal oriented treatment plan allows clients to quickly propel towards positive results. She utilizes a cognitive behavioral/solutions-focused approach with a strong behavioral framework. She has also been trained in TF-CBT, Trauma Focused / Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, for children and their families who have experienced trauma.

Rachel brings a positive presence and team approach to accelerate progress for her clients. Rachel applies her goal-focused treatment to children, adolescents, and their parents in order to enhance family relationships, improve social functioning, decrease disruptive behavior patterns, develop positive coping skills, and manage anxiety, stress, and mood disorders. She is also passionate about working with couples to strengthen relationships and explore intimacy and communication. Pre-marital and marital counseling and assessments sessions are available to help couples enhance communication and decision making for their lives together.

She is married for 30 years, has 3 sons, 2 daughters-in-laws, and a rescue dog, Mordy. Rachel is also a Breast Cancer survivor. She started a non-profit organization, Cut Out Cancer (cutoutcancerct.org). In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, sporting events, sewing, knitting, reading, crafting, shopping with friends, exploring, and most importantly, laughing through it all.
