Jessenia Medina is a Bilingual Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC) with the state of Connecticut offering services in both English and Spanish. She received her Master’s in Counselor Education with a specialization in Clinical Professional Counseling from Central Connecticut State University. She is versed in working with individuals struggling with mental health and substance abuse disorders. She has worked in a variety of settings including schools, inpatient, outpatient and in-home providing therapy services.
Jessenia is open-minded, creative and supportive. She utilizes a person-centered approach and incorporates psycho-social interventions with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy(CBT) to help improve mental healththrough personal coping strategies that target problem solving. She also incorporatesSolution-Focused Therapy through a collaborative approach to help identify client needs and goals.
Jessenia offers:
- Individual counseling for children, adolescents, adults, and families who may struggle with depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, trauma, OCD, ADHD, communication difficulties, panic attacks, substance abuse, anger management, crisis intervention, and life transitions or changes.
- Family counseling.
When working with clients, Jessenia makes sure she builds rapport and establishes a safe and comfortable environment for individuals to engage in therapy. She helps individuals make that first step and guidesthem into the process of therapy.
Outside of work Jessenia enjoys spending time with her 2 poodles on long walks, traveling to new destinations, and using her creative outlet in arts and crafts.
