Jacquelin Bessette, LMSW, is a Licensed Masters Social Worker in the state of Connecticut. She attended the Eastern Connecticut State University for her bachelors degree in Women and Gender Studies and the University of Connecticut for her masters degree in Social Work. She has several years of experience working in the mental health field with adolescents and adults in both inpatient and outpatient environments. She offers tailored and individualized treatment for her clients, with a solution focused and client centered approach. Jacquelin feels that she was born to be a social worker and she is honored to be part of the transformation process with her clients.
Jacquelin has a clinical background working with adolescents and adults. In addition, she is passionate about working with clients with anxiety disorders, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, Grief and Grieving, LGBTQ+ issues, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Therapeutic modalities that Jacquelin has experience in include; CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT(Dialectical Behavior Therapy), positive psychology, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, and experiential techniques. She is a strong believer in educating clients about their diagnoses for the purpose of empowerment. Jacquelin will work alongside you to help you find the root of what may be causing distress. Her work with clients is goal oriented, solution-focused, and strengths-based. Finding out what motivates and empowers her clients helps them to achieve long lasting success following treatment.
Prior to becoming a social worker, Jacquelin has worked as a Family Violence Victim Advocate , in residential facilities for victims of domestic violence , and in a Transitional Living House for young adults.
In her free time, Jacquelin enjoys reading a good book, hiking, gardening, spending time with her dogs and volunteering on a farm.
