Dr. Reynolds in 3 words: Optimistic, Logical, and Solution-Focused

“Life is a journey, not a destination.” — Ralph Waldo Emerson

Dr. Michelle Reynolds Ph.D. is a Licensed Psychologist in the state of Connecticut.  She has a passion for helping people integrate healthy lifestyle choices across all aspects of life using a holistic model to help patients flourish. She earned her Doctorate in Clinical Health Psychology from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Yeshiva University, and has worked in the mental health field since 1995 in diverse settings including hospitals, mental health clinics, home-based services, and private practice.

Dr. Reynolds specializes in i-therapy™ and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). She combines the therapeutic models with resiliency training to decrease current difficulties and prevent future problems from developing. She enjoys working with adults, adolescents, children, and families in individual, group, and family sessions.

Dr. Reynolds believes strongly that teaching children positive mental health skills and habits early in development, can prevent or decrease more serious mental health difficulties later in life. Some of these skill areas include: Mindfulness, Developing Grit, Social Connectedness, Gratitude, Kindness, Growth Mindset, Problem-Solving Strategies, and Effective Communication. She teaches children strategies to better manage their emotions, increase cognitive flexibility, and bounce back faster after upsetting events. Dr. Reynolds feels that incorporating parents into their children’s treatment is absolutely essential and facilitates them teaching their parents newly acquired skills to practice at home together. This approach leads to more rapid gains and teaches the child to become his or her own therapist.

Dr. Reynolds treats a variety of mental health difficulties including: anxiety, panic, depression, mood disorders, stress, obsessive-compulsive disorder, relationship difficulties, and communication skills. Some specialized areas of interest include: Positive Parenting, Creating a Meaningful Life, Putting Values into Action, Adding More Fun to Family Time, and Supporting Social and Emotional Needs of Gifted Children. In addition, she travels throughout Connecticut offering seminars and presentations to medical offices, corporations, schools, and parenting groups. Dr. Reynolds enjoys geocaching, biking and kayaking with her husband and children.
